The National Association of Archaeologists: good Count on enhancement, but attention should also be paid to protection and fruition

TheNational Association of Archaeologists (ANA) welcomed President-in-Charge Giuseppe Contes speech, in which the need to enhance cultural heritage was also reiterated. However, according to the ANA, attention must also be paid to protection and enjoyment. The association, reads a note, “welcomes the intention expressed by the President of the Council in charge, Giuseppe Conte, to include among the issues at the center of the political agenda of the next government the valorization of Cultural Heritage, which, in the wake of national tradition, will have to be combined with interventions of equal intensity intended for the protection and fruition of the same heritage.”

“The European Conventions of Valletta and Faro,” the ANA continues, “already offer a way forward for action in the coming years, but only on the condition that they find a concrete political response in the measures and actions of the republican institutions, to be directed first of all to the improvement of the working conditions of the many workers in the sector.”

The way forward, the ANA concludes, is to complete reforms with a view to launching a far-reaching project: “having witnessed, in the last five years, first the approval of a reform of the Cultural Heritage system in Italy (so-called. Franceschini Reform) and then to a rapid new reform with the particular strengthening of some sectors of the Ministry, we hope that the next government will express, in the field of heritage policies, complementary interventions useful and necessary to pursue the balance that we believe is fundamental to guarantee the whole sector the basic stability for the development of a medium- and long-term project, avoiding the petty cabotage to which we have been accustomed for too long.”
