Piacenza ’s Ricci Oddi Gallery has a new director: she is art historian Lucia Pini, a high-profile scholar deemed by the selection committee to have a particular affinity for the Piacenza museum. The appointment came on Saturday, June 5, from the board of directors of the institution, although it was made known only in the last few hours. Since 2002, she has worked as conservator at the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum in Milan, a commitment to which she flanks that of lecturer at the Istituto Marangoni. Lucia Pini’s appointment ushers in a new direction for the Piacenza museum, on the verge of the 90th anniversary of its founding, just a short distance from the discovery of one of its symbol-paintings, Gustav Klimt’s Portrait of a Lady, which has returned to the museum’s display once again.
