The exhibition featuring World Press Photo photos returns to Naples for the fourth year

From October 14 to November 11, 2019, Naples is hosting the World Press Photo Exhibition at the National Archaeological Museum.

Back in Naples, for the fourth consecutive year, is World Press Photo Exhibition, the exhibition showcasing photos from the world’s most important photojournalism award. The exhibition is present in more than a hundred cities and more than 45 countries, and the Naples stop is organized by CIME in partnership with the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, which will host the 2019 edition, scheduled from Oct. 14 to Nov. 11, 2019.

The exhibition represents a journey through images among the most relevant events of our time: every year, thousands of photojournalists from major international publications compete for the title in the different categories of the photojournalism competition. Thus, the exhibition presents the 144 finalist photos selected from the images that chronicled 2018. Of course, the winning shot of the 2019 World Press Photo of The Year is on display: it is Crying Girl on the Border by John Moore(Getty Image Agency).

The image depicts an approximately two-year-old Honduran girl, Yanela, in desperate weeping as her mother, Sandra Sanchez, who is holding her, is forced to put her down as she is searched by a U.S. Border Patrol agent at the border with Mexico. At this link you can find more information about the 2019 edition of World Press Photo, including the names of the winners.
