The World Press Photo 2019 exhibition, showcasing the photos of the winners of the prestigious photojournalism competition (the world’s most important in the field), arrives in Rome: it is open at Palazzo delle Esposizioni from April 25 to May 26 and is promoted by Roma Capitale - Assessorato alla Crescita cultura5le, conceived by the World Press Photo Foundation in Amsterdam and organized by Azienda Speciale Palaexpo in collaboration with 10b Photography.
This year’s edition of World Press Photo saw the participation of 4,783 photographers from 129 different countries who submitted a total of 78,801 images. An independent jury composed of equal numbers of men and women experts in the field and chaired by Whitney C. Johnson, vice president Visuals and Immersive Experiences at National Geographic, selected this year’s participants for the 2019 World Press Photo Contest again.
As previously reported on our pages, John Moore is the winner of the World Press Photo 2019 Photo of the Year with the shot (pictured) showing little Yanela Sánchez, originally fromHonduras, despairing as she and her mother Sandra Sánchez are arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents in McAllen, Texas, on June 12, 2018.
