On Sky Arte the new series about how art turned into the pandemic

Starting November 26, The Square kicks off on Sky Arte. Space for Culture, the new series chronicling the transformations of art in this pandemic period.

Starting Thursday, Nov. 26 at 8:45 p.m., a new series about the transformations of art in this pandemic period, The Square, kicks off on Sky Arte. Space for Culture.

Hosted by Nicolas Ballario and produced by Tiwi, the series takes the form of a place under construction, whose content comes from the now-empty stages of the art and culture world. The ongoing transformation brings new ways of doing cultural activity, and The Square aims to be a spokesperson. Artists, musicians, directors, actors, and dancers will be the guests who will find a place here for their projects to reach the public.

Sky Arte is making the series available to all for free streaming at https://video.sky.it/arte and on Sky Arte’s Facebook and Instagram profiles.

The first episode will report on the digital evolution of Artissima, as well as Visioni italiane, the festival organized by the Cineteca di Bologna. Director Alice Rohrwacher will talk about it, with the trailer of her Omelia contadina.

The Square will also host live performances: for the first episode, the guest will be an icon of Italian music and comics, Davide Toffolo, frontman of Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti, who will perform live.

The Square also pays tribute to Bergamo’s recently restored Donizetti Theater through an animated clip about one of its most famous operas, Elisir d’amore.

The world of comic books has also come to a screeching halt in recent months, as evidenced by the fact that, for the first time in twenty-seven years, Italy’s most important event in the sector, Lucca Comics & Games, has moved online, transforming itself into Lucca Changes: Roberto Recchioni, storyteller of the event and author of Dylan Dog, tells us.
