For now there is a date: May 31. It will be a Monday, then, the day of the launch of ITsART, the “Netflix of culture” strongly desired by Minister Dario Franceschini, conceived during the first lockdown. The platform’s idea is to “celebrate and tell the Italian cultural heritage in all its forms and offer it to audiences around the world,” according to a note.
The offer will cover all artistic manifestations: art, music, dance, theater. There will be videos of emerging artists, footage to highlight “iconic” (so the statement) places and great museums, as well as, the note further reads, “all the artistic and cultural excellences that are born and developed in our country.” Among the first names involved are those of Riccardo Muti and Claudio Baglioni. The conductor has decided to collaborate with ITsART through a cycle of concerts and content, while Baglioni will contribute with the concert-show In questa storia che è la mia, broadcast exclusively by the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma on June 2. Another exclusive event for ITsART, which bears the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino’s signature, is the concert La forza del destino by Giuseppe Verdi, conducted by maestro Zubin Mehta and directed by Carlus Padrissa of La Fura dels Baus (June 6). The events will be available for pre-sale from early May on major ticketing platforms.
From the first weeks after the launch, more than 700 contents will be available, which will include new formats developed and produced by the main Italian cultural institutions (archaeological areas, museums, foundations, academies and theaters) along with a wide proposal of films and documentaries, thanks to the collaboration with the main film production companies.
ITsART will therefore add to an already very wide offer, as there are several portals of on-demand cultural content that have sprung up in recent months, in a market that is becoming increasingly competitive.
