App is born that leads to the discovery of Mauro Staccioli's sculptures in the Tuscan countryside

The Esplora Staccioli app is born through which to follow the itinerary of Mauro Staccioli's sculptures, mapped and georeferenced.

Esplora Staccioli, the new app accessible through a common browser and available in both Italian and English, which allows visitors to follow the itinerary of Mauro Staccioli ’s (Volterra, 1937 - Milan, 2018) sculptures, mapped and georeferenced, with information on the works, the landscape and tourist information on accommodations, is born.

The idea for this app was born to promote, starting from Volterra and the Val di Cecina, the territory through an itinerary that has Mauro Staccioli’s evocative works as stops, thus creating an integrated circuit that features the landscape and cultural heritage as protagonists. Placed at strategic vantage points, the sculptures allow visitors to capture the beauty and uniqueness of the Valdicecina landscape, while simultaneously promoting art, slow tourism, and the area’s food and wine and artisanal products. The artist’s works, known worldwide, enhance the Tuscan landscape through a modern interpretation.

The app also aims to extend visitors’ stay in the area, and is in fact designed to be conveyed by hoteliers and industry insiders to their customers and potential tourists.

Esplora Staccioli was created by the Municipality of Volterra with a financial contribution from the Pisa Chamber of Commerce as part of the Terre di Pisa territorial promotion project. Also included within the app are the artist’s installations in Pisa and Pomarance.

This initiative, realized with content made available by the Mauro Staccioli Archive, is part of a path of valorization of Mauro Staccioli’s work, such as the contribution that the municipal administration is providing for the maintenance of his sculptures through the multi-year agreement with the FotoImmagine Volterra Association.
