How could we resist? We can only justify ourselves by saying that we could not refuse the proposal of Paolo Tognocchi, president of the City of Cascina Theater, when he proposed that we put on a show about the story of Johanna Bonger Van Gogh, Vincent Van Gogh’s sister-in-law and a key figure in the Dutch painter’s achievement. Blanded by the warm atmosphere that only the stage of a theater can exert on even the most consummate lecturer, we undertook to stage a three-voice show featuring our director Federico Giannini, author and narrator of The Woman Who Unveiled Van Gogh, Giulia Perelli and Nicholas Fanucchi, two serious theater actors whom we thank for their infinite patience. The play was first staged a few months ago as part of the Art View Festival in Cascina, Italy, and since it did not go badly at all, we thought we would bring it back. In order to leave a trace of it for posterity, we hope they won’t mind, we decided to record it, and you might not be able to find it on the web soon. The Woman Who Unveiled Van Gogh is a co-production of Danae Project with The City of Theater, whom we thank for their trust hoping to have placed it well.
