From themore than twenty years’ experience of the Marsilio publishing house in the art sector, expanded and developed with Civita Tre Venezie and its partners (Fondazione di Venezia and Opera 20, a Costa Edutainment Group company), Marsilio Arte was born, a company entirely dedicated to the planning and realization of exhibitions and cultural initiatives, the management of bookshops and services for museums and exhibition sites, and the conception and production of books and catalogs. A publishing house of the Feltrinelli Group, Marsilio has in fact always been engaged in the production of art catalogs, photography and illustrated books, and has now given birth to Marsilio Arte: through a capital increase structured through the contribution of its activities in the art sector and of the Marsilio Arte brand, specially established, Marsilio has acquired control of Civita Tre Venezie (now renamed Marsilio Arte) with a 51 percent share, destined to rise to 70 percent in the next two years.

Catalogs, art books and exhibitions have always been an area of interest for Marsilio, which has established relationships with some of the most important Italian and foreign cultural and museum institutions such as Palazzo Strozzi in Florence, Pinault Foundation, Cini Foundation, Gallerie dell’Accademia, Vedova Foundation, Michelangelo Foundation for Homo Faber, Palazzo Grimani, Peggy Guggenheim Collection, M9-Museo del ’900, Kapoor Foundation, Casa dei Tre Oci and Musei Civici in Venice, Pirelli Hangar-Bicocca Foundation, Palazzo Reale and Castello Sforzesco in Milan, Galleria Borghese and MAXXI in Rome, Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, National Gallery of Art in Washington and Barbican Art Gallery in London.

Already in the pipeline are several projects: the large group show Corpus Domini at the Palazzo Reale (from October 27, 2021) in collaboration with the City of Milan; the exhibition La Fabbrica del Rinascimento, a journey inside the forge of Renaissance creativity through the works of Andrea Palladio, Paolo Veronese, Jacopo Bassano, and Alessandro Vittoria (from December 11, 2021) with the City of Vicenza; and at the end of February 2022, an exhibition dedicated to Paris Bordon will open in Treviso at the Santa Caterina Museum.

In the coming months, the 2022 program will be announced, full of initiatives, as well as an institutional website and social channels for insights and information on the activities of Marsilio Arte and the entities with which it collaborates.

“The birth of Marsilio Arte enriches the synergy between Gruppo Feltrinelli and Marsilio, which in recent years has brought important results and mutual satisfaction, and increases the publishing potential of our Group,” comments Roberto Rivellino, CEO of Gruppo Feltrinelli. “This transaction is perfectly in line, in method and content, with Feltrinelli’s history and future project: to manifest concrete dynamism and seize opportunities that best interpret the tastes of the public and the changing needs of the culture market.”

“With the Feltrinelli Group, the common vision as cultural operators is that the world of art and exhibitions is a strategic sector of growth and development for Italy in the medium and long term,” says Luca De Michelis, CEO of Marsilio and Marsilio Arte. “The art book sector has been part of the publishing house’s DNA since its founding; with Marsilio Arte we intend to put the know-how we have already acquired into a 360-degree, wide-ranging and structured project that is central to the country’s cultural and economic growth.”
