Bosch's hellish fantasy world becomes a graphic novel with Hurricane

A journey through images in Bosch's surreal universe: this is Sinfonia Infernale, Hurricane's new graphic novel dedicated to the celebrated Dutch artist. Available in bookstores and onlne.

Available in bookstores and online is the new graphic novel by Ivan Manuppelli (Milan, 1985), aka Hurricane, dedicated to Hieronymus Bosch (Jeroen Anthoniszoon van Aken; s’ Hertogenbosch, 1453 - 1516), a Dutch painter famous for his works characterized by monstrous and fantastic creatures and figures and evocative dream worlds.

Titled Sinfonia Infernale and published by 24 Ore Cultura, the volume is a journey through images in the colorful and surreal universe of Hieronymus Bosch. It is a story in forty-eight large-format colored plates, at the center of which is a mysterious record bought almost by chance by the protagonist, attracted by its eerie cover: a record whose music, as one listens to it, creates very peculiar consequences. Beginning with this episode, the reader is taken into a kaleidoscopic universe, balanced between the fantastic and the grotesque, the fascinating and the repulsive: the Bosch universe, observed and told through Hurricane’s gaze.

The release of the volume is accompanied by the exhibition Sinfonia Infernale - Concerto in Bosch minore, in which all the original plates of the publication will be on display at WOW Spazio e Fumetto in Milan until November 27, 2022.
