A card game is born to introduce young children to museums, archaeological sites and works of art. The game is called MUSArty, and is designed, created and produced by COM.ING s.r.l of Rome. The game is designed to bring children closer to the world of museums and art, in order to arouse their curiosity about the places of culture featured in the game and beyond.
Playing with MUSArty, children can learn to recognize a work of art (associating it with its author, or an era), an archaeological site or a monument, they can remember the most important masterpieces of a museum or gallery. The COM.ING wanted to dedicate the first edition of the game to the “museum of museums,” the city of Rome, reproducing on the cards and in the categories according to which the game is played its most important monuments, archaeological sites, museums, basilicas. MUSArty is intended to represent a kind of tour also thanks to the two QR Codes on each card that allow to deepen the knowledge of each site and geolocate it.
The game is available in three languages (English, Italian and Chinese), chosen taking into account the different backgrounds of tourists coming to the capital. In addition, depending on the age of the players, it can be played in three different ways. Perfected between the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020, it found its first diffusion thanks to the availability of Zetema Progetto Cultura, which put it on sale at the two toy libraries of Casina Raffaello and Technotown and at the Musei in Comune circuit (in particular, Palazzo Braschi, Musei Capitolini and Ara Pacis Museum). Subsequent agreements brought MUSArty to the bookshops of EXPLORA Children’s Museum, the Colosseum (thanks to the availability of Electa S.p.A.), and the MAXXI-Museo Nazionale delle Arti del XXI secolo (thanks to Inedita Srl).
The game consists of two decks of 56 cards: in all, there are 90 “site” cards divided into 12 different categories, and 22 special cards. The target audience is children and young people aged 5 and up. The game is designed for between 2 and 6 players; each game lasts 15-30 minutes depending on the game.
