Museums, directors ousted: here are their replacements

The replacements for the five museum directors who had to leave their posts after the May 24 Tar ruling have already been appointed. These will be interim appointments because the Ministry intends to appeal to the Council of State, which will have the final say on the affair involving the Ducal Palace in Mantua, the Galleria Estense in Modena, and the National Archaeological Museums of Taranto, Reggio Calabria, and Naples. If the Council of State rules in the Ministry’s favor, the five directors (Peter Assmann, Martina Bagnoli, Eva Degl’Innocenti, Carmelo Malacrino, and Paolo Giulierini, respectively) will be able to return to their seats.

In the place of the suspended directors will therefore come Stefano L’Occaso (director of the museum pole of Lombardy, he will take care of the Ducal Palace in Mantua), Mario Scalini (director of the museum pole of Emilia Romagna, to him the Estensi Galleries), Anna Imponente (director of the museum pole of Campania, she will manage the Archaeological Museum of Naples), Fabrizio Vona (director of the museum pole of Apulia, he will temporarily direct the Archaeological Museum of Taranto), Angela Acordon (director of the museum pole of Calabria, she will be in charge of the Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria). It is to be expected that the five substitutes will go to deal with simple matters of routine administration.
