Lorenzo Casini, the current chief of staff of Culture Minister Dario Franceschini, was elected late yesterday afternoon as the new president of Lega Serie A. Lorenzo Casini, from Rome, born in 1976, is a lawyer and full professor of Administrative Law at the IMT Alti Studi School in Lucca, as well as professor of Administrative Law and Organization and Operation of Public Administration and Head of the Legal Area of the National School of Administration. He trained in Law at La Sapienza University in Rome with a thesis in Administrative Law entitled The Enhancement of Cultural Heritage. In the past he has was, in 2013, a member of the Commission for the revitalization of cultural heritage and tourism and for the reform of the Ministry, in 2015 a member of the Evaluation Commission for the international public selection of the directors of the new autonomous museums (a position he also held for the 2016 and 2017 appointments), between 2012 and 2016 a member of the board of directors of the Galileo Museum in Florence, from 2015 to 2017 president of the Study Commission for the activation of the National Museum System, from 2012 to 2016 secretary general of the Research Institute on Public Administration (RIPA), and from 2015 to 2019 a member of the board of directors of the Uffizi. He has held his current position as Franceschini’s chief of staff since September 2019.
Casini was supported by the presidents of Lazio and Napoli and the teams linked to them, while the group led by Inter, Milan and Juventus supported Andrea Abodi, who, however, was ultimately not voted in as he lacked the necessary support.
