Finally, good news for cultural professionals: in fact, Cultural Heritage Minister Dario Franceschini today kicked off the permanent table for the protection of workers in cultural institutes and places, signing a decree establishing it. The table will mainly serve to get professionals through the period of the Covid-19 pandemic in the best possible way.
“The permanent table for workers in museums, archives and libraries is born, a new institutional space for constant listening to the needs of professionals in one of the sectors most affected by the pandemic,” Minister Franceschini commented. “In view of the revitalization measures,” he added, “the dialogue and confrontation already undertaken by the Ministry for the definition of the relief measures is thus strengthened.”
The table is chaired by the Director General Museums and is composed of trade unions and sector associations. It is also attended by the Director General for Archives, the Director General for Libraries and Copyright, and representatives of cultural institutions according to the topics discussed. The main task of the table will be to examine the issues related to the emergency from COVID-19 in the area of competence in order to assess the adoption of appropriate related initiatives to combat and contain the direct and indirect damage resulting from the health emergency. But of course, it is hoped that its life will also extend beyond the duration of the pandemic.
