A reform to protect entertainment workers is coming. Announcing it is the undersecretary for culture, Lucia Borgonzoni. Parliament is in fact working on a ddl on entertainment and worker protection. The ddl, Borgonzoni says, introduces, among others, temporary economic support for entertainment workers (whose activity is characterized by discontinuity of work) and access to the Naspi allowance. It also guarantees parenting support, a sickness allowance and insurance against accidents at work. Also new is the creation of a registry of professionals working in the entertainment sector, to allow for their mapping that also enhances their educational backgrounds.
“All that is missing are the final steps that join the work of the ministerial offices, of the cognitive and informative activity carried out by the parliamentary commissions and the bills presented in both branches of Parliament,” Borgonzoni explains. The government has prepared the outline of the bill on entertainment, linked to the Budget Maneuver, with which we intend to intervene to make effective access by entertainment workers to social security and welfare protections. A contribution bonus for entertainment workers will be guaranteed in order to mitigate the effects caused by pandemic-related closures. Work is also being done on reducing the number of days required to accrue the right to a pension."
