The Rooms of Photography launches open call aimed at photographers under 30

On the occasion of the exhibition Helmut Newton. Legacy to be held at Le Stanze della Fotografia in Venice from March 28 to Nov. 24, 2024, Fondazione Le Stanze della Fotografia is launching an open call aimed at photographers under 30. The aim is to recognize the talent of emerging female and male photographers, including non-professionals, and encourage them in their professional development. Selected photographs will be exhibited at the entrance to the space of Le Stanze della Fotografia for the entire period of the exhibition and will be posted on the official social channels of the exhibition.

Participation in the open call is completely free and open to all, professionals and photography enthusiasts alike, and requires each participant to create three photographs that form a story inspired by Helmut Newton’s quote, “My job as a photographer is to seduce, amuse and entertain.”

The jury, composed of Matthias Harder, director of the Helmut Newton Foundation, Denis Curti, artistic director of Le Stanze della Fotografia, Francesca Malgara, artistic director of MIA Photo Fair, and photographer Maurizio Galimberti, will select one to three winners who will be announced at the press conference presenting the exhibition Helmut Newton. To participate in the open call you will need to post the three photographs on your personal social channels (Facebook or Instagram) by tagging the official account of çlestanzedellafotografia and using the hashtag #opencallstanze23. The same photos should then be emailed to opencallstanze@gmail.com in high resolution and jpeg format, along with a synopsis of the project, a brief biography of the author and the completed and signed release form (downloadable along with the rules on the Le Stanze della Fotografia website).

Emailing and posting on social profiles of photos will be allowed until 11:59 p.m. on Feb. 29, 2024.
