CAMERA - Centro Italiano per la Fotografia, in collaboration with the Cinemambiente Festival, is streaming the documentary Gianni Berengo Gardin’s Tale of Two Cities (2019) by Donna Serbe-Davis on Thursday, Nov. 19, from 6:30 p.m. to midnight.

The celebrated photographer, featured in the Gianni Berengo Gardin and Olivetti exhibition at the Turin institution, has fought hard to preserve the integrity of the Venetian lagoon. In the documentary, the artist talks about Venice, its history, its magnificence, but also its fragility. An unusual journey made through the gaze of Gianni Berengo Gardin, who helps rediscover the most intimate and authentic part of the lagoon city, increasingly distorted by uncontrolled mass tourism.

The Venetian-born photographer recounts himself and his sixty-year-long career through a series of evocative images, including those that bear witness to the presence of large cruise ships and the consequent danger to the preservation of the city’s architectural heritage.
