Volterra is a candidate for Italian Capital of Culture 2021 and wants to start with young people: the Municipality of Volterra and the Promoting Committee are launching a call to select twenty-one young people, aged between 18 and 29, interested in participating in a four-day Living Lab. Volterra’s idea is to put at the center of the bid the welcoming of people, ideas and projects to share space, knowledge and values and open up more and more to the world. The real protagonists of change will be young people: their proposals, in dialogue with the territory, will give life to the concept and program of activities planned for 2021.

Living Lab will be held from February 6 to 10, 2020, and will be a laboratory of innovative cultural design and production with practical sessions and workshops, in order to provide the minimum tools to implement innovative, inclusive and transversal cultural projects. The four-day event will also be all about sharing, as the twenty-one young people will be welcomed into the homes of resident families to introduce them to Volterra’s history and heritage.

To participate in the call, applications must be submitted from January 14 to 28, 2020, by writing to info@volterra2021.it. The application should consist of a motivation letter (maximum 2000 characters including spaces) with a brief introduction and an indication of the contribution you would like to bring by January 28.

Requirements are that the twenty-one young people come from Volterra, the Tuscany region or all of Italy. No experience or expertise in cultural design is required: anyone interested in taking part in a participatory urban and human regeneration project can participate.
