“Unique settings for dream weddings”: with this expression the website of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage presented yesterday the service that, in Tivoli, the sites of Villa d’ Este, Villa Adriana and the Sanctuary of Hercules Vincitore have begun to offer newlyweds. In fact, the Villa Adriana and Villa d’Este - Villae Institute, in response to the numerous solicitations of couples wishing to receive their guests in an out-of-the-ordinary place, entered into an agreement in January with the Municipal Administration to celebrate civil marriages both at the two UNESCO sites (the Villas, precisely) and in the monumental complex of the Sanctuary of Hercules Vincitor.
All governed by regulations: the director of the villas, Andrea Bruciati, will reserve spaces such as the Gran Loggia and the Cardinal’s Chapel at Villa d’Este, the Pecile at Villa Adriana, and the Triporticus and the Sala Grande at the Shrine of Hercules Vincitor for the bride and groom-to-be. Celebrations may be held between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on non-holiday Thursdays and Fridays. Costs to get married at Villa Adriana and to get married at Villa d’Este amount to 4,000 euros for residents, and 3,000 for those who live in Tivoli or neighboring municipalities (Castel Madama, Guidonia Montecelio, Marcellina, San Polo dei Cavalieri, San Gregorio da Sassola, Vicovaro, excluding the Metropolitan City of Roma Capitale). For the Shrine of Hercules the rates are instead 3,000 for nonresidents and foreigners and 1,500 for residents. Included in the fee, they let the institute know, are the setting up of tables and chairs, a floral gift, thirty free entrances for visiting the site, and the possibility of conducting a photo/video shoot within the chosen site itself.
Satisfaction from Director Bruciati, who states that the contributions made by the spouses will be used to maintain the sites. “The citizen,” he said, “becomes in part a patron of an asset that belongs to him and contributes to the protection of the monuments, which are an integral part of his person. For these reasons, the spouses will be informed of how, and for what intervention, their contribution has become important for the purpose of better and amplified enjoyment.”
Want to get married at Villa Adriana or Villa d'Este? All it takes is 4,000 euros, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage informs you. |
