Vintage domus discovered in Pompeii Archaeological Park

In Regio V, where excavation work is underway in Pompeii Archaeological Park, a domus with"vintage" decorations has been discovered: colored stucco, ancient and rare decorations that the owner of the domus had wanted to keep.

The director of the Pompeii Archaeological Park, Massimo Osanna, toldAnsa, “A domus with ’vintage’ decorations in the early style whose owner must have been wealthy and cultured, aware of the value of paintings that were already centuries old at the time.”

The atrium richly decorated with faux marble slabs in red, black, yellow and green also features a graffito in which the owner is referred to as"Balbo the Athenian," a reference to a then well-known figure who had been proconsul of Crete and Cyrene.
