Vinci, private company fund restoration of Vinci Man, masterpiece by Mario Ceroli

TheMan of Vinci, the famous masterpiece with which Mario Ceroli (Castel Frentano, 1938) wanted to pay homage to Leonardo da Vinci and which decorates Castello Square in Vinci(our in-depth article on the work can be found at this link) will undergo restoration in view of the celebrations of the 500th anniversary of the death of the Renaissance genius.

The intervention, which will cost 35,000 euros, will be entirely financed by aprivate company. Making the announcement was the mayor of Vinci, Giuseppe Torchia, who believes the restoration is necessary because of the deterioration the sculpture is undergoing: “After more than 30 years since its installation,” Torchia comments, “there has been a physiological deterioration, caused by atmospheric agents as well as by the misbehavior of visitors who have left the sign of their passage with carvings and writings on the wooden structure.” Work will begin as early as the next few days.
