The mayors of Bergamo and Brescia cut a symbolic “start of work” ribbon for the construction of the two large portals of TheGate2023 installation. The two high-tech structures will directly connect the cities, which have been named Italian Capital of Culture 2023, allowing direct interaction and offering an innovative immersive experience to all who pass through them. The installation will be available by the end of April. TheGate2023 installation, of which Bper Banca is the main sponsor, perfectly represents the Bergamo Brescia 2023 project, which leverages culture, understood not only as an artistic expression but also of the value of local businesses and the ability to innovate, fostering the growth of people and communities.

The two identical structures will be placed in the heart of the cities, respectively in Piazza Vittoria in Brescia and Piazza Matteotti in Bergamo. The applied technology will also allow real-time interaction with those in the other city.

The exterior of the structure will be made of “mirror” material that will therefore reflect the image of the host square with the addition of augmented reality effects that will return the possibility of an additional emotional experience for citizens and tourists. TheGate2023 is an artistic work realized by the municipalities of Bergamo and Brescia through the involvement of private entities through an expression of interest for the drafting of the executive design and commissioning.
