Fire breaks out at the Cavallerizza Reale in Turin, a UNESCO heritage site. The roof of the architectural complex is on fire.

A fire broke out at dawn this morning at the Cavallerizza Reale in Turin, an architectural complex designed in the seventeenth century together with the Royal Academy: it was the place where young people attending the Academy practiced with horses. In recent years the Cavallerizza Reale has experienced ups and downs (it had become an exhibition venue, but now it is disused and waiting to be restored: however, it is occupied by some collectives), and already in 2014 it had suffered a fire.

The roof of the architectural complex went up in flames. Five firefighting teams are already on the scene in an attempt to tame the fire to prevent it from spreading to the adjacent buildings (the Cavallerizza Reale is in the historic center of the city). A number of people, members of the collectives that have occupied the building for years, were present at the time of the fire, but no injuries were reported. The building is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the complex of Residences of the Royal House of Savoy, listed since 1997.
