A new episode of vandalism against a work of art: this time it was the Trevi Fountain in Rome that was defaced. Author of the uncivilized act was a 21-year-old young man who was carving his name on the marbles of the fountainan using a steel ring. The incident occurred on the day of Ferragosto: the man could not complete his “work” because he was stopped by local police officers.
The vandal was stopped and referred to the judicial authorities for damage and defacement, as well as for resisting a public official, because after being stopped by the officers while he was carrying out the defacement, he tried to wriggle out of the way to escape among the crowd of tourists.
