Traveling with Dante, MiC's digital campaign kicks off with all works dedicated to the Supreme Poet

The Ministry of Culture kicks off a new digital campaign dedicated to Dante Alighieri.

The Ministry of Culture’s new digital campaign kicks off: on the occasion of the seven hundredth anniversary of Dante Alighieri ’s death, the MiC kicks off In viaggio con Dante.

Through the works of archives, libraries and state museums including drawings, engravings, illustrations, paintings, portraits, frontispieces, books, documents, miniatures and sculptures, a journey into the otherworldly world of the Divine Comedy is undertaken, from the descent into Hell, through the frames of Purgatory, and finally arriving in Paradise. An “itinerary” posted at www.beniculturali.it/viaggiocondante.

“Dante reminds us of many things that hold us together: Dante is the unity of the country, Dante is the Italian language, Dante is the very idea of Italy,” said Culture Minister Dario Franceschini. "The Ministry of Culture is proposing a campaign entirely dedicated to the Father of the Italian language to discover the representations of the circles of Hell, the frames of Purgatory and the heavens of Paradise described by Dante in The Divine Comedy and represented in various ways in the works of Italy’s cultural heritage.

Many works of art are inspired by the Comedy and Dante himself.
