Tour guide unions Federagit Confesercenti and Confguide Confcommercio have sent the government a joint list of requests for help for the category. “In full consideration of the anomalous situation and serious emergency we are experiencing due to Covid-19,” reads the note of the two unions, “with a great spirit of cooperation and sense of responsibility, the trade unions Federagit Confesercenti and Confguide Confcommercio have decided to share the actions, requests and proposals presented to the government in joint documents.”
The two associations consider essential the declaration of a state of crisis for tourism and the establishment of a specific economic fund, and call for measures for professionals in the sector affected by the crisis due to the inability to work because of restrictive measures to counter the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic. The main demands are: the recognition of an allowance to Vat holders of at least 1,000 euros per month, not subject to taxation, until March 2021 (and to a lesser extent to occasional services and those with small pensions due to past activity payments); full defiscalization for the 2020 tax year; decontribution of social security and welfare charges for the 2020 tax year; and one-year suspension of the deadlines for payment of 2019 balances of taxes and social security charges, without application of penalties.
“We are confident that our requests sent to the government in a joint document,” Federagit and Confguide write, “can encourage listening to the government and allow us to achieve the objectives listed above, which our members consider essential to ensure our survival and ferry the category itself toward possible recovery. We are confident that our initiative also corresponds to the expectations of a large part of our category, which from many quarters is calling for greater collaboration among associations in order to finally affect the future of our profession.”
