Arrested in Croatia four suspects aged between 43 and 60 in the theft last Jan. 3 from the Treasures of the Mughals and Maharajas exhibition at the Doge’s Palace in Venice.
The thieves had stolen around 10 a.m. from among visitors to the exhibition some jewelry: a pair of earrings and a diamond and gemstone brooch worth several million euros.
The arrest followed ajoint investigation with Italian police that lasted more than a month.
One of the suspects allegedly belonged to the"Pink Panther" criminal gang and in 2011 also allegedly stole jewelry worth millions of euros during an exhibition in Basel, so he was also wanted by Switzerland.
A fifth suspect was instead stopped at the border between Croatia and Serbia.
