A program agreement has been signed between the municipal administration of San Casciano val di Pesa(Florence) and the Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio for the Metropolitan City of Florence and the provinces of Pistoia and Prato for the realization of restoration, conservative rehabilitation and enhancement of the castle walls of San Casciano, in the section of Via dei Fossi, following the subsidence suffered in December 2017.
This is a far-reaching goal that will be able to be achieved thanks to ministerial funding, amounting to more than half a million euros, and obtained last February for the restoration of the oldest section of the medieval walls of St. Casciano. Work is scheduled to begin by 2018 on the section along Via dei Fossi. For the Municipality of St. Casciano, reads a note, this is an important step that goes in the direction of achieving an ambitious and concrete goal: to restore, preserve and enhance the castle walls. For councillors Roberto Ciappi for Public Works and Chiara Molducci for Culture, it is a matter of “allocated resources and centered objectives, this our constant commitment to the valorization and restoration of the walls.”
