A few days ago, archaeological finds were found in front of the entrance to the Mut, Stintino’s Tuna Museum, wrapped in rags inside plastic boxes accompanied by a note saying"Pelosa finds."
These are an amphora from the Roman period, plates, cups and a pitcher from the post-medieval period.
Leaving the artifacts in front of the museum’s entrance was reportedly an anonymous donor, who took care to probably also write down the place where they were found.
The twelve pieces were thus found by Mut staff, who reported the fact to the Superintendency and the Municipality of Stintino.
Superintendent Francesco Di Gennaro said that “taking artifacts away from their places is wrong. They are means of knowledge, they must be collected with scientific methods and contextualized in the context of their finding.”
The museum’s director, Esmeralda Ughi, commented, “People realize that the museum is a public institution and they take on the awareness that these objects are public goods and must be returned to the community.”
