The Ministry of Cultural Heritage will hire 5,920 workers by 2021. Undersecretary Orrico outlines the program

The Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities will hire 5,920 workers by 2021. This was announced by Undersecretary Anna Laura Orrico, who explained the hiring program.

5,920 personnel units are coming to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for the three-year period of 2019-2021. This is the government’s intention, according to a statement made yesterday by Undersecretary for Cultural Heritage Anna Laura Orrico during question time held yesterday in the Culture Commission at the Chamber of Deputies. “The Ministry,” Orrico said, “has already been addressing the problem of staff shortages for a few years, drawing up a specific recruitment program. In particular, it intends to proceed with the recruitment of a total of 5,920 staff units for the three-year period 20192021, to be distributed among the different professional profiles, taking into account the dorganic shortages and the hiring powers recognized by the relevant regulations.”

Currently, 3,276 profiles to be hired at MiBACT would have already been defined, while the others will be defined later. There are also three competition procedures already underway: the first is the big competition for 1,052 fruition, reception and supervision assistants, for which 209,729 applications have arrived (pre-selections are being held in Rome until January 20). The undersecretary also let it be known that the winners will be hired by December 2020. The second is a call for administrative officers (permanent), will affect 250 workers, and the notice is pending. The same goes for the third procedure, which concerns 550 permanent units with the title of “custody, supervision and reception operator”: 250 will be hired in 2020, 300 in 2021. The selection notice, Orrico said, will be published by March 2020 at the latest, and the pre-selection procedure is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.

So, the procedures that have already been initiated concern a total of 1,852 workers who are expected to swell the ranks of the ministry by the end of this year. Now to the procedures to be launched: there will be a competition for 841 permanent units with specialized profiles (officials, technicians and the like), of which 250 will be hired in 2021. Another one will be for 398 technical units, also on a permanent basis, of which 64 will be with the profile of computer assistant and 334 with the profile of administrative management assistant. Then there will be another competition for an additional 100 units to be allocated to reception, support and supervisory services. The calls for applications for the 841 and 398 workers will probably be published by the end of March 2020, and hiring is planned for 2021, while for the 100 new custodians Orrico let it be known that “the interlocutory phase with the Department of Civil Service is being started, in order to initiate the procedure.”

Calculating these additional 1,339 units, which are added to the 1,852 in 2020, 85 workers are missing to arrive at the number of 3,276 profiles already defined to be hired between now and 2021: these are profiles with executive qualification of the IInd range, and will be 65 permanent units with specialized and common profiles (including 5 architect managers, 4 archaeologist managers, 8 archivist managers), and 20 permanent units with administrative manager profile.
