The canvas was purchased by a private collector at a price of 629,000 euros.

It is a painting presented by the maison Audap & Mirabaud that belonged to two prestigious collections: that of Frederick Richards Leyland and that of Edouard Aynard.

There are other replicas of the same painting: one is kept in the Gemäldegalerie in Berlin.
