The Piccolo Coro di Caivano will be born, a project promoted by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with Antoniano-Opere Francescane and the participation of the Ministry for Family, Natality and Equal Opportunities.
It will be the Piccolo Coro dell’Antoniano that will give life to the Piccolo Coro di Caivano. The project will be supported over time by the Ministry of Culture, with a multi-year plan. The girls and children of Caivano, with their families, will be involved in a preparation activity that will lead to the formation of the Choir composed of sixty singers from the age of 4.
“Culture in all its articulations and forms improves the quality of people’s lives because it is that element that can give all of us opportunities for redemption and possibilities to improve ourselves,” said Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano. “That is why a theater and library designed to be multimedia and living places will be born in Caivano, where young people can go to study and exchange ideas. The choir, then, is highly educational because in it the voices are different but the expression is unique: in the choir everyone helps each other and everyone is in solidarity, it is a moment of exaltation of solidarity, a factory of good citizens. It is precisely in Italian suburbs like Caivano that we are striving to bring culture and enhance it.”
“The birth of the Piccolo Coro di Caivano has substantial and symbolic importance,” commented Undersecretary for Culture Gianmarco Mazzi. “In fact, we have decided to allocate multi-year funding to this initiative so that our presence will be concrete and lasting. Music, art and culture play a fundamental role in the healthy growth of the youngest children, the social cohesion of their families and the rooting of community spirit. I propose that the choir be dedicated to Fortuna Loffredo, in memory of the little girl from Caivano, a victim of abuse who later died in 2014, when she was only 6 years old. That would be a beautiful gesture!”
“Mariele Ventre, founder of the Piccolo Coro dell’Antoniano, used to tell the boys and girls who were part of it that the voices of individuals should not be heard but a single voice given by the harmony generated by listening to each other,” recalled Friar Giampaolo Cavalli, director of Antoniano-Opere Francescane. “Choral singing is above all enhancement of this relationship and of the beauty that comes when things are done together. This is what we will bring with us to Caivano, thanks to this important project, aware that it is precisely thanks to the little ones that we will build new worlds together.”
