On Friday, December 6, 2019, at 6 p.m., the historic library of MIC, Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche, will reopen to the public.
After two years of renovation works, which have made the oldest rooms of the library’s historic headquarters accessible again to visitors, made safe and suitable for the proper preservation of the precious heritage they guard, the public will in fact be able to return to admire this extraordinary place.
The work began in 2017 and was made possible thanks to the support of the Municipality of Faenza, the Emilia Romagna Region, the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Ravenna, the Fondazione del Monte e Cassa di Risparmio di Faenza, Credit Agricole and Giuseppe and Gabriella Ferrero; in particular, the interventions involved replacing the roof and bringing the systems up to standard.
The library has about 60 thousand volumes and pamphlets, as well as historical and current publications and journals related to ceramics technology. There is also a special section of printed editions from the 16th and 18th centuries.
During the inauguration, in the presence of the authorities and Claudio Leombroni, head of the Libraries, Archives, Museums and Cultural Heritage Service, and Valentina Mazzotti, curator of MIC Faenza, there will be a guided tour of the historical library by Marcela Kubovova, MIC Faenza library manager. This will be followed by a lute concert by Ettore Marchi from the Sarti School of Music in Faenza.
Free admission.
