Starting Jan. 31 to kick off Culture Cards, replacing Culture Bonus 18 App

The Youth Culture Card and the Merit Card, the new electronic tools prepared by the Ministry of Culture to replace the 18-App Culture Bonus and aimed at developing and enhancing the dissemination of culture among young people, entered into force on January 31, 2024.

The Youth Culture Card is granted to all residents of the national territory in possession, where applicable, of a valid residence permit, belonging to households with ISEE not exceeding 35 thousand euros. The Card is awarded and usable in the year following the year of the person’s 18th birthday.

The Merit Card, on the other hand, is granted to all residents of the national territory in possession, where applicable, of a valid residence permit, who have obtained, no later than the year of their 19th birthday, a high school diploma from secondary educational institutions with a grade of 100 or 100 cum laude. The Card is awarded and usable in the year following the year of graduation.

The Cards can be used to purchase tickets for theatrical performances, film screenings and live shows; to purchase books, subscriptions to newspapers and periodicals, including in digital format; for recorded music and audiovisual publishing products. With the Cards it is also possible to purchase admission tickets to museums, exhibitions, cultural events, archaeological areas and natural parks, and to participate in music, theater, dance and foreign language courses. Excluded from the list of purchasable products are video games and subscriptions for access to channels or platforms offering audiovisual content. The Cards cannot be converted into substitute merchant-generated spending vouchers.

It is possible to apply for both Cards until June 30, 2024: each is individual, nominative and with a face value of €500 and can be used no later than December 31 of the year in which the beneficiaries registered on the platform. The two Cards are cumulative with each other.
