Spoleto: new tour route for the Cathedral Monumental Complex

Spoleto Cathedral has unveiled its new tour route that will allow visitors to admire Filippo Lippi’s frescoes up close for the first time and climb the bell tower.

The cathedral’s monumental complex includes the Cathedral, Diocesan Museum and Basilica of St. Euphemia, and the route with views from above of the top of the cathedral apse and bell tower.

The intention of the new route is to link these latter buildings together while keeping in mind the fulcrum, namely the cathedral, a treasure trove of splendid masterpieces, including Filippo Lippi ’s stardinary cycle of frescoes depicting the Annunciation, the Nativity, the Death of the Virgin, the Assumption up to the representation of the Empyrean. And in particular, near the apse, the basin fresco with the Coronation of the Virgin.
