According to TripAdvisor reviews, the Sassi of Matera, European Capital of Culture 2019, is ranked first in Italy’s ranking ofUNESCO heritage sites.

They are followed by the Cathedral of Monreale, the historic center of Siena, the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta in Aquileia, the Val d’Orcia in Tuscany, Basilica of San Francesco in Assisi, the Amalfi Coast, Pompeii, Florence and Venice.

The Sassi of Matera are ranked sixth in the world.
