Rome: Anio Vetus 2 installation celebrates 25 years of Roma Incontra il Mondo festival

To celebrate 25 years of the “Roma Incontra il Mondo” festival at Villa Ada (Rome), the organizers of the festival, with the support of Yourban2030, are creating the installation "Anio Vetus 2," located on the banks of the islet in the center of Villa Ada’s pond and part of the project conceived by the Orizzontale collective of architects for the realization of the infrastructure hosting the event.

The installation consists of a reproduction of an aqueduct: "thechoice of the aqueduct,“ the presentation reads, ”is dictated by the desire to go to interact with the project that includes a large part of the islet in the center of the Villa Ada pond, in fact referring to the infrastructure that will be pulled up by the Orizzontale architects’ collective, theaqueduct reflects the architectural history of Rome, it becomes an ideal means of communication to emphasize the relationship between nature and the city and how the human conduct of these times affects our land, in fact the aqueduct is half submerged its is a functionality that is only imagined that is not realized that maintains its splendid ephemeral nature."

The installation is a work created by the collective Sbagliato, founded in 2011 and composed of Capitoline architects and designers who intersect graphics, architecture, photography and collage to create urban art interventions around the world.

“Rome Meets the World,” now in its 25th edition, is Rome’s largest summer event, consisting of concerts, theater and circus performances, children’s initiatives, talks, book presentations and DJ sets. At the end of the event, Anio Vetus 2 will be donated to a workshop for recycling and production of design objects from salvaged materials.
