MiBACT Minister Dario Franceschini signed the decree increasing by 14.4 million euros for 2020 the resources allocated to the compensation of operators in the art exhibition sector who had applied within the terms of the previous public notice, and the decree allocating an additional portion of the emergency fund, amounting to 10 million euros, to the compensation of losses incurred by operators due to the cancellation, cancellation, postponement or downsizing of art exhibitions scheduled in the fall period.
With regard to the latter allocation, operators who have suffered a loss in turnover due to the cancellation, cancellation, postponement or downsizing, because of the Covid-19 epidemic emergency, of at least one art exhibition in Italy or abroad scheduled in the period between October 1, 2020 and November 30, 2020, are eligible to apply for the contribution. Entities whose main activity is the organization of art exhibitions are eligible for the grant; entities providing logistics and transportation and set-up services that have a share of more than 50 percent of their turnover derived from activities concerning art exhibitions.
Institutions and places of culture with legal personality, whose activities includeorganizing or hosting art exhibitions, that have suffered a drop in turnover due to the Covid-19 epidemic emergency, and that have canceled, cancelled, postponed or downsized at least one scheduled art exhibition in the period between June 1, 2020 and November 30, 2020, are also eligible to apply.
The General Directorate of Museums will publish, within five days from the date of registration of the two decrees, a special notice with the procedures and deadlines for submitting applications for grants. Interested parties will be able to apply for contributions, electronically, within ten days after the publication of the notice.
