Rimini will have its own art and poetry garden with natural rooms

Final design for the garden of the Federico Fellini International Museum, between the latter and the Podestà and Arengo palaces, approved.

A garden of art and poetry will be created in Rimini as part of the Federico Fellini International Museum: the city council approved the project, which will be developed between Piazzetta San Martino and the back of the Arengo and Podestà palaces.

The intent of the project is to coordinate the city’s two new cultural interventions, namely the Federico Fellini International Museum, which will be developed on Castel Sismondo, Fulgor cinema/Valloni Palace and the external part between them, and the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, which will be opened on March 14, 2020 in the Podestà and Arengo palaces.

In the perspective of the project, the garden has been considered as an outdoor space of the Fellini Museum suitable for hosting temporary events, such as screenings, lectures, and meetings related to the famous director, with the possibility of creating permanent and temporary installations.

According to the plan, in fact, natural rooms will be created through walls of perennial plants to place artworks outside. Also planned is a water pool placed on the central axis and new lighting designed specifically to highlight the overall architecture and the sculptures placed within it.

It will be a garden of art and poetry, as sculptures and poetic elements will be introduced that will pay homage to Tonino Guerra, a great 20th-century poet and friend of Fellini himself.

The goal of Rimini’s municipal administration is “to make the harmonious space between culture, history, art, creativity and the environment of this extraordinary urban quadrant in the historic center, which also includes the Galli Theater and the square on the water at the Tiberius Bridge, even more evident and livable.”
