The Reggia di Venaria is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its opening with appointments for all and the restoration of the Fountain of Hercules.
The latter had been designed by Amedeo di Castellamonte between 1669 and 1672 for Charles Emmanuel of Savoy: it was supposed to be a marvelous union of hundreds of statues, first of all the one depicting Hercules, and water features. In the 18th century, however, it was dismantled and even buried.
The restoration will be supported by Compagnia San Paolo and Intesa Sanpaolo and will be handled by architect Gianfranco Gritella.
The restoration is scheduled to be completed in 2019, when the Hercules Fountain will be shown again with its statues, decorations and water features.
