The Uffizi has never seen so many visitors over the Easter weekend: the 2023 Easter holidays set an all-time record at the Florentine institution, where an impressive 91,369 admissions were recorded between Friday, Saturday, Easter and Easter Monday. This is a record figure, making the museum complex 21 percent higher than the same period in 2022, when attendance was 75,704, and 28 percent higher than in 2019, when it was 71,393.
In detail, there were a total of 42,757 visitors at the Uffizi Gallery (+17% compared to 2022 and +23% compared to 2019), 12,531 at the Pitti Palace (+30% compared to 2022, +50% compared to 2019), and 36,081 at the Boboli Gardens (+23% compared to 2022, +27% compared to 2019).
The most striking figure, then, is that of the Pitti Palace , where there has been much more significant growth than in the other two museums. But also surprising is the number of five-day passes purchased by visitors.
“Of the more than 91,000 visitors,” explains director Eike Schmidt, "more than 12,000 opted for the 5-Day Passepartout (which includes Uffizi, Palazzo Pitti, Boboli, Museo dell’Opificio delle Pietre Dure and Museo Archeologico Nazionale), with a 17 percent growth in the sale of this type of ticket compared to the same period last year; and as many as 6.332 bought the combined Pitti-Boboli ticket, which was established just last year: this confirms that our special tickets, designed for quieter and more in-depth enjoyment. We are happy that the most robust growth concerned the Pitti Palace Palace, with 50 percent more, compared to 2019, the year of historical record for admissions to the Galleries. Certainly the exhibitions on Eleonora di Toledo and Rudolf Levy played a crucial role in enabling such strong growth. In short, these numbers are leading us toward a new record."
Record-breaking Uffizi. For Easter never so many visitors as this year |
