Record-breaking exhibition: more than 50,000 tickets sold for Raphael in Rome


A little less than a month after opening, the major event exhibition dedicated to Raphael at the Scuderie del Quirinale has already sold more than 50 thousand tickets

Less than a month to go before the opening of the major exhibition event celebrating the 500th anniversary of Raphael’s death at the Scuderie del Quirinale in Rome, and pre-sales are already at a record high. The highly anticipated exhibition dedicated to the Urbino artist will open to the public on March 5, 2020, and more than 50,000 tickets have already been sold.

It will be a unique occasion that will attract visitors from all over the world: more than two hundred works by the famous artist from important Italian and foreign institutions will be on view; as many as fifty of these masterpieces will be on display thanks to a fruitful collaboration with the Uffizi Galleries.



Among the great masterpieces will be the Madonna of the Grand Duke and the Veiled Madonna from the Uffizi, theEcstasy of Saint Cecilia from the Pinacoteca in Bologna, the Madonna Alba from the National Gallery in Washington, the Portrait of Baldassarre Castiglione and theSelf-Portrait with Friend from the Louvre, and the Madonna of the Rose from the Prado.

The exhibition, which stands as the largest dedicated to an artist ever held in Italy, is curated by Marzia Faietti and Matteo Lafranconi with contributions from Vincenzo Farinella and Francesco Paolo Di Teodoro, and has a scientific committee chaired by Sylvia Ferino Pagden.
