On Saturday, April 18, at 12:40 p.m., Rai 5 will broadcast the full version of Being Leonardo da Vinci. An Impossible Interview, Massimiliano Finazzer Flory ’s docu-film dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci.
The film centers on two journalists, one from Milan and the other from New York, who get the same idea: to go in search of a scoop on the universal Genius. So they explore the cities where Leonardo lived such as Florence and Milan where they will find unexplored traces of the Renaissance artist’s passage. The journalists, unaware of each other, will meet in Clos-Lucé where, unexpectedly, they will come face to face with Leonardo himself who grants them an interview (speaking only in the Renaissance language).
Made on the occasion of the five hundredth anniversary of the universal genius’ passing, the film was shot between the United States, France and Italy using as sets the places that truly constituted an important part of Leonardo’s life, from his birthplace in Vinci to the Château Royal d’Amboise, the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana and theOfficina Profumo Farmaceutica in Santa Maria Novella, to name a few. The artist’s works such as the Mona Lisa, the Last Supper, the Virgin of the Rocks and theVitruvian Man are also not missing from the narrative.
The film was awarded in the US as: Winner Best Indie Filmmaker - New York Film Awards 2019; Winner Best Actor - Actors Awards Los Angeles January 2019; Winner Honorable Mention: Narrative Film - Los Angeles Film Awards 2019; Winner Best Narrative Feature - Festigious International Film Festival 2019 Los Angeles.
