This morning, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, speaking at the House to present the program of the M5S-Pd-LeU government on the day the House will vote on confidence in the government, reiterated the need to invest in culture. During his speech (which, at an hour and a half long, was the longest in the history of the republic), the premier recalled the guidelines already included by the parties in the program: “it is necessary to promote the multifaceted paths of tourism, also through the recovery and enhancement of our natural, historical, artistic and cultural heritage, with particular attention to the specificities of some territories, such as the Alpine ones. Priority objectives of government action should be the preservation and enhancement of the extraordinary artistic and cultural heritage contained in our territories.”
Conte added, “We must also invest in businesses that are based on creativity and generate culture, expanding access to cultural consumption. The entire society will benefit from these investments, including in terms of greater wealth and wider employment.” And again, a further passage, “also in the cultural field we will have to, with even more determination, promote Italy in the world, also by enhancing, through the Institutes of Culture, the study and dissemination of the Italian language, preparing ourselves in the best way to celebrate the seventh centenary of Dante Alighieri’s death, in 2021.”
Premier Conte reiterates: preservation and enhancement of cultural heritage will be primary goal of the government |
