The management of the Pompeii Archaeological Park has released the news of the collapse of a portion of a wall in the House of the Hunting Bulls: the detachment occurred this morning, and after the inspection carried out by the general director Massimo Osanna and technical officials of the Superintendence, it was learned that it affected a portion of about a meter and a half of wall, which was in good condition. The damage was reportedly caused by the unforeseeable subsidence of an underlying cistern.
Massimo Osanna clarified in a note that it was not a collapse, but the detachment of a piece of wall. There would be no damage to the archaeological material: in fact, the wall would have remained intact and could be relocated to its original position. However, the affected domus was not open to the public and had already been secured. The structure of the building remains in good condition.
