Workers at the Pompeii Archaeological Park employed by the company that holds the concession for ticketing and services, Opera Laboratori Fiorentini SpA, will go on strike next Tuesday, September 15: the day of unrest, which will cover the entire work shift (and therefore the entire day), has been called by the Private Labor Cobas. The workers are protesting the situation that has arisen following the reopening of the site after months of closure due to coronavirus. “The company Opera Laboratori Fiorentini SpA,” reads a note from the union, “for months has been carrying out a reduction in working hours due to the Covid-19 emergency organized through a reduction in working hours that forces employees working at the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, already economically tested by the non-payment by INPS of wage supplements, to make long daily commutes to reach the work site (with the resulting transportation costs) to perform a few hours of work performance.”
The company, the Cobas point out, “has so far ignored the workers’ requests to redistribute working hours with a vertical reduction that would allow them to perform the same amount of work hours spread over fewer days of the week.” Finally, the union points out, “the attempt at conciliation at the company’s headquarters was unsuccessful due to the failure of the competent authority to convene.”
