Uffizi Gallery Director Eike Schmidt has assured visitors of the addition of one hundred benches that will be placed in niches near the windows in the halls and corridors.
In this way, “they will not steal any space from the visitor routes, and their arrival will fill a gap that hitherto plagued the Uffizi.”
“With a capacity of 900 people in the gallery, we didn’t even remotely have enough seating to cope with the resting needs of visitors, or even the needs of those who perhaps want to sit in front of a painting and be fascinated by it for a while. We do now,” Schmidt added.
The first group of benches has already been made and will be tested in these days.
A real"bench plan" that will be accomplished gradually.
