Pablo Picasso's Portrait of Marie-Thérèse Walter sold for more than £49 million at Sotheby's.

The painting“Femme au béret et à la robe quadrillée” that Pablo Picasso created in 1937, depicting the portrait of the Spanish artist’s muse and lover, Marie-Thérèse Walter, was sold at auction yesterday at Sotheby ’s for £49,827,000.

The auction started at £37 million, so the amount for which the new owner won the work is much higher.



The auction for this painting was part of the Impressionist & Modern Art Evening Sale on February 28, 2018.
