The supplementary agreement between Agenzia del Demanio, the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Pesaro has been signed: the historic fortress Rocca Costanza will be refunctionalized and will become home to the State Archives and the Museum of the Dario Fo and Franca Rame Foundation.
An ambitious redevelopment project that is now further enriched thanks to the opportunity to host in the spaces of theancient fortress, commissioned by Costanzo Sforza, also the museum that will bring together the artistic-cultural heritage of the Dario Fo and Franca Rame Foundation, recognized as of historical interest by the Ministry of Culture itself and already housed in the headquarters of the State Archives in Verona.
Strongly desired by the Municipality of Pesaro to pay homage to the bond between the artist and intellectual Dario Fo with the city where he worked for several years, the initiative was shared with the Ministry of Culture, which will allocate an additional 2,350,000 euros to the redevelopment plan of the Rocca, deriving from the Strategic Plan “Major Cultural Heritage Projects,” with the aim of enabling the museum’s exhibition and conservation spaces to be set up. Initially, 5,400,000 euros were allocated, including 1,400,000 made available by the Ministry, 3,600,000 by the State Property Agency and 400,000 by the Municipality of Pesaro. Among the strengths of the protocol, in addition to the redevelopment of a state-owned property of significant historical-artistic interest with an increase in the economic value of the asset of 6 million euros, is the closing of a passive lease that will bring savings in expenses for the state of about 200,000 euros per year currently paid for the rental of the Pesaro State Archives at a privately owned building.
This is a green intervention without land consumption, including energy efficiency and reduction of CO2 emissions post intervention, high level of digitization, with monitoring and control systems for building management and next-generation archival mode of data compaction.
The agreement entrusts the implementation of the works to the State Property Agency, as the implementing party of the overall re-functionalization and redevelopment intervention, to be completed by 2025.
In addition to housing the State Archives and the museum, the project will allow one of the most valuable buildings to be returned to the city: in parallel with the protocol, activities for the cultural enhancement of the asset will be launched through the signing of an Agreement between the Ministry and the Municipality for the use of spaces dedicated to events, including the Rossini Opera Festival.
