Pesaro, makeover for the celebrated bookstore in Palazzo Mosca

It has undergone a makeover of Palazzo Mosca's celebrated bookstore, the large wall made of books, among the most photographed images of Marche on the web.

Important “restyling” work has been done for the bookstore in Palazzo Mosca in Pesaro, the scenic wall, much loved by the web, made to look like’ an open-air bookstore with the sets of the Rossini Opera Festival. In fact, the bookstore has just been renovated with new volumes arriving from the extremely rich deposits of the only event in the world entirely dedicated to Rossini’s genius.

The bookstore, a true internet star as one of the most photographed places in the Marche region (everyone uses it as an image symbolizing the fascination of books and reading) welcomes visitors to the courtyard of Palazzo Mosca, home of the Civic Museums with their treasures including painting, ceramics and decorative arts. National newspapers have used it, Lucca has used it for its Salone dei Beni Culturali (the LuBeC), and the bookstore will also be one of the city’s most original destinations unveiled in the forthcoming guide 100 things to know and do in Pesaro, Gruppo Editoriale Raffaello.

Ahead of the summer that finally returns us to share in the presence of events and enjoy the events that carry Pesaro’s name and prestige around the world, the bookstore therefore gets a makeover with an intervention that included replacing old books now marked by weathering, securing the general structure and treating it with a special paint for greater resistance. The work was carried out by the City of Pesaro/Giancarlo Cesarini, Centro Operativo in collaboration with the Rossini Opera Festival, which provided the new elements, and Sistema Museo.

The library in Palazzo Mosca was conceived by Stefano Lazaridis (1944-2010) for the Möise et Pharaon staged at ROF 1997 and directed by Graham Vick. A special place, then, that is double-tied to an excellence of the cultural offerings of Pesaro Unesco Creative City of Music: the Rossini Opera Festival ready to launch its 42nd edition from August 9 to 22, 2021.
